Choosing a centreboarder

The aluminium centreboarder

The off-roader of the seas

Perfectly suited for lovers of blue water cruising, all looking for safety and stability, the centreboarder by Garcia Yachts is the answer you are looking for. The solidity and robustness of the aluminium construction will allow you to venture wherever your inspiration takes you. In the most isolated places, in the middle of the largest oceans, in the face of the harshest conditions, you and your crew will always feel safe aboard a Garcia.

While a Garcia Yachts centreboarder meets the same stability requirements as a keelboat, it offers a much smoother movement, due to the virtual absence of rolling, particularly downwind, even in rough seas. Sailing manoeuvres and life on board are all the more fluid and smooth.

In heavy weather, raising the centreboard avoids the tripping-up effect of a keel. This allows the boat to skid sideways and, ultimately, to remain manoeuvrable, even in the event of breaking seas.

In the down position the board is particularly effective upwind, due to its high elongation. Once raised, the minimal draft opens the doors to anchorages that are inaccessible to most people, but also, as stability does not vary, to sailing in areas inaccessible to deeper draft vessels. Crossing a coral reef, atolls open their arms to you, or enter an estuary, go up the rivers, escape crowded anchorages.

Invariably, control and safety are the key words for the Garcia Yachts. That’s why we chose the twin-rudder configuration for fingertip heading control. Our boats can sail with ease in all weathers, on all seas.

The twin-rudder centreboarder is indeed the archetype of the ocean cruising sailboat. Because it allows you to sail more safely and to extend the possibilities of navigation, even in shallow waters, or even to beach where you want. It is more possible than ever to get off the beaten track, you will be able to make it your daily life.
